William T. Corbett, Jr. and Laura A. Brady Join Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP as Partners

Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP is pleased to announce that William T. Corbett, Jr. and Laura A. Brady have joined the Firm as partners. Mr. Corbett and Ms. Brady will be joining the Firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Services Group where they will focus in the area of insurance coverage litigation and counseling.

With nearly 35 years of experience, Mr. Corbett has enjoyed a long career focused on insurer clients in coverage and extra-contractual liability litigation and counseling in all property/casualty and professional insurance lines. He has handled and argued appeals on behalf of insurers in state and federal courts across the country.

In 2016, Mr. Corbett was accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel and was also nominated for membership in the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel.

Mr. Corbett credits his ten years spent as counsel in the corporate law department of Travelers Insurance Companies in Hartford, Connecticut, as developing his unique understanding and appreciation of underwriting and claims handling principles and procedures, as well as the needs of insurance industry clients.

Mr. Corbett received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1985. He earned his B.A. from Wake Forest University in 1982. Prior to joining Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP, Bill spent 23 years at Drinker Biddle where he had served as the head of the Insurance Coverage Practice Group.

Ms. Brady has over 23 years of experience representing clients in insurance coverage litigation and advice matters. Laura has represented numerous insurance company clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts throughout the country. She has extensive experience with matters involving personal and advertising injury liability coverage.

Ms. Brady also has contributed over time to the work of New Jersey-based organizations that coordinate the provision of legal representation to survivors of domestic violence. Laura was awarded the Partners in Hope Award from Partners for Women and Justice, “in recognition of her outstanding dedication to improving the lives of women.”

Prior to joining Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP, Ms. Brady spent 23+ years at Drinker Biddle, worked as an associate in the Washington D.C. office of a global law firm, and served as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. Laura also completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable James H. Coleman, Jr., of the New Jersey Supreme Court. Ms. Brady received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1991 and her B.A. from Williams College in 1988.
